Giant Panda Facts
- (Ailuropoda melanoleuca)
- Is a bear native to south central China.
- Lives in a few mountain ranges in central China.
- Are considered omnivores but their diet is over 99% bamboo.
- Grow to between 1.2m and 1.5m, and weigh between 75kg and 135kg.
- Baby pandas are born pink and measure about 15cm.
- Unlike most other bears, pandas do not hibernate
- Highly endangered with estimate of around 1,000 remaining in the wild.
