MY CHILD SPONSORSHIP IN KENYA
I joined Foster Parents Plan in January 2002 as a child sponsor. I chose Kenya as the place to sponsor a child because I had seen first hand, travelling to parts of Kenya and Tanzania, the extreme poverty and harsh conditions in which many children and families live in.
My sponsor child’s name is Samson M.O. I sponsored him when he was 3 years old, from January 2002 until October 2016, until he reached the age of 18, when he graduated from the sponsorship program.
My new sponsor child’s name is Bob A.O. who is 14 years old and lives in western Kenya near Lake Victoria.
Here is some information about the living conditions and the community, which Bob and his family lives in.
Bob goes to primary school which takes less than 30 minutes to reach the school.
He receives all basic vaccinations and is a healthy boy. The nearest health facility is about 45 minutes away.
Like most impoverished communities in Kenya and Africa, safe drinking water is a major problem. The family’s main source of water is a river, stream or lake up to an hour away.
|“Good for you for sponsoring those friends of yours in Kenya, both animals and human. Samson is a lucky guy to know that there’s someone over here in Canada who cares about him.”|
